The In-Patient Unit

The In-Patient Unit consists of eight single en-suite bedrooms, and two double rooms. There is a large day room and a jacuzzi bath. The rooms look out onto extensive gardens.

Referrals to the In-Patient Unit are for symptom management, care in the terminal stage of illness and occasional respite care. Patients are usually admitted for a two-week stay, during which time they are assessed on a daily basis.

Patients are cared for by a team of Nurses and Doctors who are specialists in palliative care. This is supplemented by local visiting GPs.

In-Patients have access to hydrotherapy and physiotherapy, and a range of complementary therapies, which include Reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy, acupuncture and homeopathy. A beautician and hairdresser visit the Hospice on a weekly basis. There is chaplaincy support for those that require it.

Patients are usually referred by their Consultant, GP, District Nurse or Macmillan Nurse, but their GP has to agree to the referral.
