Willow Wood Hospice has a fantastic relationship with schools throughout Tameside and Glossop and enjoys tremendous support from them. Whatever your school’s involvement, everyone will benefit from learning about the work of the Hospice in our community, and how they can help.
Invite Willow Wood to your school assembly
The Hospice is often asked to visit schools or host a tour group of children at the Hospice so that they can learn from an early age what a Hospice is all about and how their fundraising efforts can really help.
The Hospice gets involved in a range of citizenship events at local schools, getting students talking about the importance of supporting local charities, volunteering and careers in Hospices.
There are lots of ways in which your school can get involved with the Hospice from organising your own fundraising, to taking part in one of our own organised events. Why not run your own cake sale, organise a sponsored walk or hold a non-uniform day to raise funds for Willow Wood?
We also run several activities throughout the year, just for schoolchildren. We have our ‘Go Green’ day where we urge schools to literally go green for a day. Face painting, green clothes and green coloured cakes are amongst some of the ideas that schools have come up with.
We invite local schools to attend the Day Hospice for a number of weeks. The pupils are able to work with our patients on small activities, and present their ideas at the end of the course.
