Midnight Wander 2009

Entries for this year's Midnight Wander are now closed!

For the third consecutive year, Willow Wood Hospice is organising the Midnight Wander, a fully marshalled, sponsored 10k walk taking in parts of Stalybridge, Ashton and Dukinfield to raise funds for the vital work our dedicated nurses provide.

It will once again start and finish in Cheetham's Park, Stalybridge, and the walk itself will be on fully paved well-lit walkways, planned to cause a minimum of disruption to residents.

The registration fee of £10 will cover the costs of the Midnight Wander, which includes a commemorative T-shirt, medal, glow bracelet, water and breakfast at the finish, together with insurance, printing, and all the associated administration costs.

The sponsorship monies that you raise will go directly on patient care for the people of Tameside and Glossop, and we urge you to raise as much as you can for those in need of our specialist services. Raising £50 in sponsorship works out at only £5 per kilometre! Please do your utmost to persuade friends, family and workmates to give their support. Your employer may also be able to help by matching funding.

If you require tips on how to maximise your fundraising, please look elsewhere on the website where there is information which may help you, or ask for a poster to display at work, your church, local pub or gym - anywhere potential supporters will see it.

If you want to support us, but either don't want to walk or don't feel you could raise sponsorship monies, there are plenty of volunteering opportunities associated with the Midnight Wander In addition to marshalling the walk, for which we do require male volunteers, we will need help on the night itself with registration, setting up the venue and cleaning up at the end! Please contact us for more information if you feel this could be a way in which you might help.

Conditions of Entry

  • All walkers are asked to raise sponsorship for Willow Wood Hospice.
  • Places are limited and will be allocated on a strictly "first come, first served" basis.
  • All participants must be aged 12 or over. Participants aged between 12-16 must be accompanied by a parent or other adult who is also registered on the walk.
  • One entry form must be filled in for each person.
  • Entry forms must be completed on an individual basis and must include a cheque for £10.00 as your registration fee. Please write your name on the back of the cheque.
  • The registration fee covers all expenses involved in administering your place and is non-refundable.
  • If you are unable to walk please inform us as soon as possible. You must not "give" your place to another person, however, this can be re-allocated through the Appeals Office.
  • Any sponsor monies raised must be forwarded direct to Willow Wood Hospice as soon as possible following the event, and certainly before the end of August 2009.
  • Strictly no dogs allowed, except for guide dogs.
  • Participants are responsible for their own medical condition. Should you be in any doubt about your ability then you must consult your doctor prior to signing up to the event. You will be entering the Midnight Wander entirely at your own risk and agree that the organisers and sponsors shall not be liable in any way for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of your participation.

Please help us care for those in need of our services by returning your sponsor monies promptly.

Our sincere thanks go to Greater Manchester Police, Raynet & Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council for all their assistance with this event.
