Riding the Zip Wire!

The Zip Wire

Sunday 7th October 2012 - Are You Brave Enough?

Taking place in the picturesque surroundings of the Park Bridge Heritage Centre, the Zip Wire involves a descent of approximately 875 feet - an incredibly thrilling experience.

After ascending to the top of a 100-foot plus crane you will be securely fastened into a harness before taking the plunge, sliding into the air with gravity the only means of your descent.

Requiring only a minimum of instruction this high-adrenaline activity will give you an incredible "high". Taking that first step into thin air may seem daunting, but as you reach speeds of up to 14 feet per second, the buzz will be tremendous.

Safety is paramount and the experienced crew are fully trained, with all equipment being rigorously maintained. Helmets will be provided, otherwise just dress in sensible outdoor clothing (no heels). To make your zip wire experience even more fun you can wear fancy dress provided that the harness will fit over your costume. You may prefer to wear gloves to assist with your grip on the apparatus.

The Zip Wire is organised by the team from Vertical Events who have over 20 years experience in holding these events, so you can be assured they will guide you safely through your challenge.

Anyone over 14 can enter, although under 16s will need to be accompanied by an adult. You must weigh over 6 stone and under 17 stone to participate - these limits will be strictly enforced.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit enough to take part, and if you have any queries please consult your doctor. Obviously if you are pregnant or have existing heart, back or neck conditions the Zip Wire is not for you.

This is a sponsored event, and it is suggested that a minimum of £75 for either Willow Wood Hospice or Dr Kershaw's Hospice should be achieved. Both Hospices provide the highest standards of loving care for those with life-limiting illnesses in their local communities, and the money you raise will be an invaluable part of the £2million plus that is needed annually to maintain these services at both Willow Wood and Dr Kershaw's.
