Inpatient Care
Willow Wood Hospice sits in a tranquil setting with all our rooms overlooking the beautiful gardens. Hospice care is for the people of Tameside and Glossop who have a life limiting illness.
Specialist Palliative Care
We provide specialist palliative care to those people in our care who have complex symptoms, or are at the end of life. We holistically assess the people in our care, including medically, psychologically and socially. We also care for the needs of the families.
Patients are assessed individually and a plan of care tailored accordingly. Planned care includes:
- Nurse and Doctor assessments
- Emotional and psychological support
- Physiotherapy support as required
- Complementary therapy
- Referral to social services as required
Patients who have had complex symptom control problems, once stabilised will then go back home or to another care setting to continue to enjoy and get the most out of life.
End of life Care
We also provide end of life support and care for patients and their families during this time. We would try to support their choices, for example, if they wished to be cared for at home we would do our upmost to meet these needs.
What we don’t provide
We do not offer long term care and we also do not offer respite care.
Getting referred
Any health care professional can refer a patient to our services by completing the referral form and sending it in to us. All referrals will be assessed at the daily multi professional team meeting. If you are a patient and feel you require our support please speak to your GP, district nurse or Macmillan nurse.
