Butterfly Memory Release

#

Every year in July our Butterfly Memory Release takes place in the lovely grounds here at Willow Wood.

This year we released 600 Painted Ladies into the wildlife friendly gardens, each one dedicated to the memory of someone very special.
We are hoping that next year social distancing guidelines will be relaxed enabling our supporters to release their butterflies themselves. This year, Lauren, one of our nurses and Yvonne, a support worker on our In-Patient Unit, let the butterflies fly free, following a moving address by volunteer chaplain David and a welcome from chief executive Karen.

This year, for the first time, we are selling beautiful hand painted metal butterflies as a symbol of enduring love. These can be placed in our newly designed Memory Garden here at the Hospice or taken home to cherish.

The butterflies are 40cm high with a wingspan of 20cm and are truly lovely.
