Miss Julie Goodyear MBE has long been a supporter of Willow Wood Hospice, and in 2020 she donated a large amount of her personal jewellery and other effects to us, which were auctioned on our Ebay site raising over £16,000!
This year we were honoured when she accepted the position of patron, thereby cementing and extending our relationship.
Fondly remembered by many as Bet Lynch, the archetypal brassy barmaid with a heart of gold, Miss Goodyear was famously the wife of Alec Gilroy, played by Roy Barraclough, MBE on Coronation Street and they were close friends offscreen.
Miss Goodyear said: “Roy was the founding patron of Willow Wood, and I have always taken a keen interest in the Hospice. It’s a fantastic local charity and I’m proud to be able to support them.”
We are very grateful for this second, fantastic donation, and the items, which this year include a ball gown worn by Miss Goodyear to the 50th Anniversary Coronation Street Ball, will be auctioned on Ebay once again. Starting on Sunday 14 November at 12 noon, the sale will run for ten days.
