We often are told just how much it comforts families to honour a loved one's memory by making a gift of love to Willow Wood. Your donation will not only honour them, but will be used to help our patients and their families - a positive and comforting way to remember family and friends.
Willow Wood has a number of ways you can remember your loved one, whether by setting a beautiful butterfly free in our gardens, engraving a Memory Stone with their name, celebrating their lives at Christmas time or setting up a tribute page where videos, photos and memories can be shared. Find out more below:
This is your own special memorial website in tribute to your loved one, where you can share memories, thoughts and stories with family and friends as well as light candles, add music, photos and videos.
Although free to set up, you can also collect fundraising donations for Willow Wood or set up a project in their name, organise events, celebrate anniversaries – and much more.

Our gardens are beautiful, whatever the season, and we know that many visitors find it so very peaceful to sit around our central water feature, or to stroll around the flower beds.
Many of our patients and their loved ones have special and lasting memories of the gardens and over the years have often said how they would like to have a memorial there.
As we do not have room for benches to be sited, or trees to be planted we now have our Memory Stones. Beautifully engraved with your loved one's name, these will be carefully positioned in our Memory Fountain - right at the heart of the garden. Find out more information and how to order here.
Our long-standing Light Up A Life dedication services, one in Glossop and one at the Albion Church in Ashton for the whole of Tameside are always wonderful occasions. With brass bands, children's choirs, readings and the switching on of the Tree of Lights, Light Up A Life is a lovely way to remember those special people.
This year we won't be able to come together in the same way, but we feel it is more important than ever to reach out to each other. We will be holding an online Virtual Service and hope many of you will join with this.
We also have beautiful metal Memory Stars this year which will be sited in our Memory Garden. One the Christmas season is over you will be able to take this home to treasure.

A very joyous and uplifting way to remember loved ones is with our Butterfly Memory Release. Under normal circumstances this is held to coincide with our Summer Fete, and hundreds gather together in our gardens to release beautiful living butterflies in our gardens, following a short blessing by our Hospice Chaplain.
It really is a wonderful occasion. The Painted Ladies are sleepy as they emerge from their individual boxes, slowly stretch their wings while remaining on hands and shoulders, before they fly off to feast on the butterfly friendly blooms in our gardens. Our wild area is specially planted with the nettles, mallows and thistles that they prefer to lay their eggs, and it is so lovely to see butterflies in our gardens for weeks after the event.

Many families now opt for donations to a charity rather than flowers at the funeral. We can provide collection envelopes to be distributed at the service, making it an easy and unobtrusive way to donate.
Your Funeral Director can even arrange for the envelopes to be collected and returned to Willow Wood. If you would prefer to organise this yourself, please contact our fundraising department at firstname.lastname@example.org or by ringing 0161 330 7788.
As numbers at funerals are restricted now, mourners who are unable to attend the funeral can make a donation here.
