Retail Volunteering

#
Volunteering in our busy retail division which includes our town centre shops, our warehouse and our eBay, Amazon and Discogs online sales, is a really important and rewarding way to support Willow Wood.
You'll be raising vitally needed funds. You'll be meeting like-minded volunteers and making new friends. You'll be using your skills and learning new ones.
More than half of our 600+ volunteers work in the shops, which shows just how important they are to us.
Not only are they raising the funds to help us care, but they are ambassadors for the Hospice, presenting a warm, human face to our supporters.

Our Ashton-based warehouse is at the centre of our retail operation. It's where we receive and sort donations before they're loaded onto our vans to be taken to our shops.
It's always busy, we have a huge number of committed supporters throughout the Tameside and Glossop areas who donate large quantities of clothes, books, records and CDs, small electrical goods, toys - you name it, we've probably had it donated.
If you've got an eye for a designer label your knowledge could be invaluable to us, making sure that the more expensive stock can go where it will raise the most funds.
Current volunteer roles in our warehouse include picker & packer, furniture upcycler and Ebay researcher.
Another important volunteering role is that of PAT tester - all donated small electrical goods have to be checked by a qualified member of the team before they can go out for sale.
And there's always time for a bit of fun!

Our online sales team is also based at our warehouse and has expanded dramatically over the past few years.
We have a thriving eBay shop, selling collectables, clothes, jewellery, toys and more. Alongside that, we also have an Amazon shop plus Discogs, the specialist online music platform.
Our small team helps to list the goods for sale, pick them from the warehouse and pack them ready for posting or collection.
Like all our volunteers, your support helps our care.
Find out more in our volunteer role description.

If you think you'd like to volunteer in our shops you can always try it for a couple of hours to see if it's right for you. Just call in your local shop for a chat with the friendly manager and existing volunteers.
